19 DAY NORTHERN EXPLORER CRUISE ON THE SUN PRINCESS, Departed 24 August 2009
Karen recently escorted our
inaugural Potter Travel Cruise
, the
19 Day
Northern Explorer
Australian Cruise. At sunset on 25 August we departed Fremantle and this was the start of the most amazing holiday for our group of 40. We visited the ports of
Geraldton
,
Exmouth
,
Broome
,
Darwin
,
Cooktown
,
Yorkeys Knob (Cairns)
,
Townsville
and
Brisbane
. Also included was the
Kimberley Coast Scenic Cruising
, where we entered York Sound and Prince Frederick Harbour. We had the opportunity to see one of the most beautiful parts of the Kimberley Coast and observe the colour changes in the rock formations during sunset. We were also lucky to have numerous
Humpback Whale
sightings
right up the Western Australia coast. Days were filled with food, food and more food. At sea we were kept busy with Trivia Games, Movies, Dance Lessons, Computer Lessons, Arts & Crafts, Health Seminars and Port Lectures, just to mention a few. The evenings were filled with Comedy & Variety Shows, Opera performances, musicians and the Sun Princess Dancers who entertained us all. The Crew on the ship went out of their way to ensure that our time on board was an
unforgettable
experience.
There were many varied optional
Shore Excursions
at each port of call or you could choose to do your own thing. Just a few of the options were the wonderful wildflowers and magnificent scenery at Kalbarri, the amazing gorges of Cape Range & the Ningaloo Reef at Exmouth, and Litchfield National Park at Darwin. The Skyrail Cableway from Kuranda at Yorkeys Knob was spectacular, to travel along the canopy of the trees was a great experience. The
Sunset Camel Safari
on
Cable Beach
was fantastic, and is a real "must do" if you ever visit Broome. And no, you are never too old, as Avril, Helen and Claire joined Margie and I, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Sadly, our magnificent journey came to an end when at 5.20am we sailed into
Sydney
and under the
Harbour Bridge
. I wish I was still cruising on the Sun Princess!

and transfer to
Fremantle
to join the
Sun Princess
for an early evening departure. Ports of call on this cruise include
Geraldton, Broome, the Kimberley’s, Darwin, Port Douglas, Townsville

days at sea
in between the port visits and the
